Ardon Baird Evans, age 83, of Arcadia, Duchesne County, Utah, died peacefully at his home Thursday, September 24, 1998.

He was born February 7, 1915 in Upalco, Duchesne County, Utah, to George Henry and Margaret Baird Evans. He married Ruth Lusty August 13, 1936 in Vernal, Utah. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 6, 1939. She died May 26, 1968. He married Winnie Collier in July 25, 1969 in Manti, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died December 20, 1997. Some of his greatest joys in life were ranching, his family and his church callings. In the later years of his life he served three LDS missions: a family mission to Randlett, Utah and two couple missions; one to Tampa, Florida and the other to Richmond, Virginia. Interspersed with these were various temple assignments.Ardon is survived by children, Hugh L. and Joan Evans, Alpine, UT; Fred B. and Angeline Evans, Arcadia, UT; Laird A. and Karen Evans, Centerville, UT; Baird A. and Allyson Evans, Bountiful, UT; Mary Ellen and David A. Grigsby, Roosevelt, UT; Wilford H. and Louise Evans, Sandy, UT; Ann Evans, Provo, UT; Ronald and Peggy Evans, Ioka, UT; John O. Evans, SLC, UT; over a hundred grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Winston and Shirley Slaugh, Manila, UT; Wayne and JoAnn Slaugh, CA; John and Charlotte Slaugh, LaPoint, UT; Carol and Paul Sylvester, Vernal, UT; brothers, Harley and Jean Evans, Farmington, UT; Doyal Evans, Holladay, UT; sister, Mary Eliza Evans, SLC, UT. He was preceded in death by children, Clara and George Edwin Evans; and sisters, Bessie Lusty and Ellen Hawkins.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 28th at the Bridgeland LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary in Roosevelt, Sunday 7-9 p.m. and at the church Monday 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Upalco Cemetery.
