MESA, Ariz. — Earnest Morgan Skinner passed away surrounded by family in Mesa, Arizona Saturday, November 17, 2001. He was born July 29, 1916, in Nounan, Bear Lake, Idaho, the youngest son of Nephi Aaron and Etta May Morgan Skinner. He received his elementary and secondary education at schools in Nounan, Paris and Grace, Idaho. He graduated from Utah State (USU) with a degree in education, and completed his master’s degree at Brigham Young University (BYU) in counseling.

He loved teaching and was employed by the LDS Church Education System for 33 years, before retiring in 1981. He served in numerous LDS Church capacities, the most recent of which was as a sealer in the Arizona temple, and patriarch in the Mesa Central Stake. He served a mission in the eastern states, where he first met Mabel Clarinda Peterson of Mesa.

They were later married May 29, 1939, in the Arizona temple, and became parents of seven children. Mabel died December 6, 1990. He married Doris Ann Randall-Reeder September 3, 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Dorie; six sons, E. Morgan Jr., (Lorna) of St. George, Utah, Charles A. (Vicki), of Parowan, Utah, Stephen W. (Marlene) of Logan, Utah, Joel M. (Janell), of Mesa, Arizona, David P. of Queen Creek, Arizona, Daniel P. (Laura), of Mesa, Arizona; a daughter, Shauna (Virgil) Clark of Gilbert, Arizona; and stepdaughter, Cindy Allen of Mesa, Arizona; 37 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Elmwood Ward, Mesa Central Stake Center, 925 North Harris, Mesa, with Bishop Steven L. Tait conducting. Viewing for family and friends will be Friday, November 23, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 North MacDonald in Mesa, and one hour prior to services at the Mesa Central Stake Center Saturday. Interment will be in the Mesa, Ariz. Cemetery.
