Ogden - Edwin Baird, 96, formerly of 585 Chester St., died Sunday, Mach 6, 1988, at an Ogden nursing home of causes incident to age.

He was born Janury 8, 1892, in Morgan, a son of Hames Hyrum and Margaret Ellen Randall Baird.

He married Olive London Condie Sept. 1, 1926, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died March 30, 1979.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War I.

He graduated from Brigham Young University and taught school for 35 years in the Ogden School District.

He was an active member of the LDS Church. He had served in many positions including bishop of the Odgen LDS 21st Ward from January of 1942 to May of 1951. He and his wife also served as temple workers in the Ogden Temple.

He had lived in Syracuse, Morgan, and the Provo area, prior to moving to Ogden in 1923.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Ramon C. Baird, Boulder, Colo.; Arlan R. Baird, Evyonne Baird, and Mrs. William E (Anita) Ford, all of Ogden; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Abner H. Baird, Payson.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at at the Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Keith J. Read of the Ogden 42nd Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11: 45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
