Obituary - San Juan Records
Harry S. Randall
October 5, 1914-June 26, 2008
Harry S. Randall was born in Pine, Arizona on October 5, 1914. He died in Blanding, Utah on June 26, 2008.

In between, his life was filled with service to his family, his church, and his community. During his lifetime, he was a truck driver, a miller, a San Juan County Roads employee, owner of the Little Theater and NuVu Drive-in Theater, an employee and then owner of Napa Motor Parts.

He served as a city council member for Monticello, he helped build roads on the mountain, he worked on the ski lift, on the swimming pool, and on the graveyard.

He held many church callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He very much enjoyed being an ordinance worker in the Mesa, Arizona Temple where he served for over ten years with his wife.

After graduating from Holbrook High School, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. He came to Monticello, Utah to work for his uncle, Clarence Frost. It was during this time he met his future wife, Geraldine Ramsay.

They were married in the Mesa Temple on December 13, 1938 and returned to Monticello to live. They became parents of 12 children, eight girls and four boys. He was a good father, teaching his children to appreciate their heritage, teaching them to work, and teaching them to be contributing members of their society. Most importantly, he taught by example, especially in regards to his religion.

Harry and Jerry’s home, whether in Monticello or Mesa, was open to all. He would often bring guests home for lunch, ready or not. He enjoyed picnics in the oaks, meeting new people, taking his grandchildren for rides on the tractor, serving in and attending the temple, and especially being with Mother. He dearly loved her, and we will miss seeing them holding hands on the couch.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; a baby daughter; his parents, Howard L and Ethel Smith Randall; his sisters Reseda, Ruth and LaPriel; his brothers Clinton, Francis and Earl.

His living children are Lyn Barker (Dean), Harry W. (Wanda), Ellen Kirby (Jack), Gaylia Turley (Korrin), Ruth, Clara Davenport (Robert), Emma Melo (Sam), Howard (Callie), Ralph (Diane), Clinton (Sue) and JerriAnn Peterson (Mark).

He has 43 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Rich, Ruel and David and sisters Elizabeth, Melba and Ellen.

Card of Thanks
The family would like to express appreciation to all of those who were so kind to Harry and his family. With about four weeks between Mother’s and Daddy’s passing, so many acts of service were repeated close together. How much we appreciate the neighbors and people of the community and county who provided so much support and kindness during this period.
