Notes for JOHN RANDALL:

Son of John and Elizabeth (Morton) Randall.
Born: June 6, 1666 in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island.
Died: July 17, 1720 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut.
Buried: Brown-Randall Cemetery, North Stonington, New London County, Connecticut.
Occupation: Farmer.
Married: Mary Baldwin November 25, 1706 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut.

According to Crowell's Scrapbook (see Public Archives of Nova Scotia), "John removed from Westerly to Stonington, Conn., where he bought large tracts of land, and became a successful farmer." Brian E. Randall, of Sudbury, Ontario writes that John built the first homestead in North Stonington, CT; he bought 682 acres of land in 1680 and by 1710 had a large home built. This homestead was passed down through several generations of Randalls till it was sold in 1882. Crowell says John had fourteen children and that one of them was "Eleanor," but I do not find her listed with the fourteen children given by Chute's genealogy. See my further confusion under notes for the second wife of Nathan Randall, John's son, and also for Eleanor Randall, wife of Benjamin Green (parents of Humility Green, who married Ichabod Randall, another son of John Randall).
