Sanford R. Mallette, age 87 of Trumbull, passed away April 14, 2011 at Milford Hospital. Mr. Mallette was born in Bridgeport and was a longtime Trumbull resident. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years of service. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 88th Infantry and 10th Mountain Division. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Mallette served God first and his country second. He was a family man, animal lover, an avid gardener, and loved the outdoors. Mr. Mallette was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ethel Knecht Mallette; three brothers and a sister. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Directly at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 498 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment in Long Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd.
