Born: October 30, 1843 in Dresden, Muskingum County, Ohio.
Died: April 15, 1924 in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois.
Buried: Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, Lake County, Illinois.
Married: Alice Alfarata Maxwell December 31, 1865 in Unknown.
Native of Muskingum County Ohio. In 1849 his parents moved to Kane County Illinois. In August of 1862 he joined the Army in Co. D 127th I.V.I. He participated in the battles of Vicksburg, Arkansas Post, and was with Sherman's Army from Chattanooga to Atlanta. He lost his leg on the 28th of July at the battle of Atlanta. He returned home to finish school and the went on to the Soldiers College at Fulton Illinois. After his graduation he taught there for three years. He was elected County Clerk of Pontiac Illinois in November 1887.
